They shouldn't be. I had already abandoned PERL in favor of true OO languages years ago. This article is the first indication I'd had that Larry was religious.

Oh, I know. It's kinda stupid, but if I was still all rah-rah around PERL, and then found out its creator was deeply religious, it would take a little wind out of my sails. Not that I dislike him because of his religious beliefs. After all, he doesn't seem to be much for preaching; he was just responding to a question.

But it's sort of like when I got the Avril Lavigne album, and really liked the music. Then I opened
up the liner notes and read her Thank-yous. The first one? Thank you God!

Blech.

But I still listen to the album anyway...
