Perhaps it is funny, but english is not my first language, and so I tend to miss some humor if there wasn't a laugh track playing in the background. Sorry.

Elhanan kills Goliath, not his brother.

The words "the brother of" are present in the English KJV translation, but if you look further you'll noticed they are italicized. Italicized words in the KJV are those which do not appear in the original Hebrew (or Greek).

My favorite contradiction comes from my favorite book of the Bible, Ecclesiastes.
3:18
I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
3:19
For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
3:20
All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
3:21
Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
3:22
Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

This just plays hell with any number of other statements in the Bible. In Genesis, God gives man dominion over all the living things of the Earth; yet the Preacher says "a man hath no preeminence above a beast."

If "All go unto one place"- the grave- what about all the promises of eternal life, and souls, and whatnot; what of heaven and hell?

"Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward"- the Preacher is a skeptic, and questions the existence of any eternal human spirit. He says there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works- the things of this world and life.

And yet, this is one of the more venerated books of the Bible, with the "ashes to ashes" quote heard at millions of Christian funerals. Care to explain away this, Magus? If the Preacher speaks sooth, then how can you claim the rest of the Bible is also true?

Morpheus, this is not exactly a Biblical contradiction, but I think it is an incredibly potent argument for non-belief in the God of the inerrantists. From this thread in EoG, bd-from-kg writes

You can’t have it both ways. Either human standards of “goodness” are reasonably close to God’s standards or they aren’t. If they are, we are in a position to judge how things measure up to God’s standards – not perfectly, but reasonably well. In particular, a desire to glorify oneself is very far from being a virtue or even an admirable quality by human standards, so if these standards are reasonably similar to God’s it’s not an admirable quality by God’s standards either. Similarly, if making (or allowing) everyone after Adam to be born unimaginably depraved and debased because of Adam’s sin is cruel and unjust by human standards, it’s cruel and unjust by God’s standards unless His standards are monumentally different from human standards.

In other words, if we cannot judge God by human standards of goodness, then all attempts to show that God is good are meaningless, because we cannot understand what 'goodness' is.

I suggest reading all of bd's long post. A fantastic argument for atheism!
