I can think of at least 5 other people besides me who post from NC... not bad considering it's the Bible Belt, I guess.
To quote Shelby Foote quoting Stonewall Jackson: very commendable, very commendable.

I just transferred to Chapel Hill. I'm coming home, NC.

Well, I'm from Texas.

From Texas, off the top of my head, there's also pug846, TollHouse, Opera Nut, Solsticin, LianaLi, Tricia, and until recently QueenofSwords (honorary (but perhaps reluctant) Texan). I'm sure there's several more I'm forgetting.

And yes, I'm one of those city Texans actually born in Texas. There's more of us than you think.
FYI... The very hot Psuedonymph (nee' SirenSpeak) is a fellow (not to me mind you, I'm a New Yawkah!) Texan.

Hey, where'd she get off too, anyhow?!

And I've reassessed the Mississippi infidels after fixing to lose one Pensee and recently discovering Grad Student Humanist (some powers of investigatory observation I have ), so it's ~

Mr. Kitchen
Grad Student Humanist
Pensee (until mid-May)

You forgot me. *wipes away tears

I was born in Dallas, and due to a deliberate effort to rid my speech of a childhood lisp, I have my own esoteric accent which gets me accused of being from elsewhere. But around here (Denton - mostly a college town) I fit right in.

As a side note: DFW, perhaps Austin, SA and Houston also, doesn't regularly fit the Texas stereotype. Perhaps the Texans here should have a thread describing how our worst (GWB, Tilton, oil men, rabid fundies, etc.) really don't play that much of a role in the lives of Texas infidels. I'm surrounded by great people and love where I live. This is a great state; it just seems like our worst are the ones that speak pompously and proclaim proudly that they "be a nativ texan, whoooweey."

Okie Infidel rat cheer.

And I lived in D/FW for 6 years and hated every minute of it. I have a theory about the Dallas area (which indeed isn't representative of Texas):

A large precentage of the people there are from outside Texas. And those people are all folks who were run out of town for being complete selfish assholes with no driving skills and they ended up in the metroplex.

Probably more than this, just haven't seen posts from them.

Maybe I should get out more.

Cheers,
