I think Judas Priest's contribution to the 80s metal sound and look is underappreciated. Billy Idol spiky blonde hair look was a lot like Halford's (except Idol looked more gay, ironically). I hear echoes of Priest riffs in songs by Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, and Metallica. I don't listen to them much anymore; I think their music was more relevant to an angry 15-year-old outcast. But if they tour I'll check them out. My first ever rock concert was Judas Priest (1985) and they put on quite a show.

Oh, good -- perhaps this means that there will be a "Heavy Metal Parking Lot -- Revisited".
Seriously though -- Priest rules. |

Heh, I saw those guys on the Turbo tour about 75 pounds ago. I even had a black t-shirt of the five of them in Apocalyptic-leather-type gear standing in front of the hellfire-like flames. If Halford still has his voice, I may try to catch them if they swing near here.
