OK everyone, which political system do you prefer? Dictatorship or Democracy? If you choose Dictatorship, please tell me what you prefer about that to Democracy.

Thank you.

I prefer dictatorship coz it's the only way to have public hangings for those who make polls like this one.

What do you mean by Democracy? Do you mean Bourgeois Democracy found in capitalist nations? Do you mean direct democracy in our communities? Do you mean equal opportunity to participate and have an equal say in a political system? Do you mean majority rule, without protection of minorities?

I thought this was a really weird, even outright pointless poll. You might get a greater response if you ask us whether we think democracy is something we should press for universally and immediately throughout the world, or something like that.

I mean democracy as a whole. Not any particular string of democracy. All of the above you mentioned qualify. Do you need to know different types of authoritarian systems too in order to make up your mind, or can you accept "dictatorship?"

It's not pointless. I really wonder if there are people here who prefer dictatorships to democracies.

And hey, feel free to post a poll on that, if you like. I'll vote.

I have to agree; this is indeed a pointless pole. Great, I think minorities should have protection from the majority, so I guess I can't vote for Democracy. I don't agree with representitive democracy as functioning in capitalist nations, then I guess I can't vote for democracy.

No, but thanks for asking.

Post a better one.

So a dictatorship would offer protection for the minority, then? How so?

How about if you were in the minority, and George Bush was a dictator. How would you be better served in a dictatorship?

So you would prefer dictatorships to representative democracies, correct?

So you don't understand what a Democracy is, but you know what a Dictatorship is?

Wha? This poll is rather vague, don't you think? I don't necessarily agree with most forms of democracy, especially the forms currently prevalent in the world, so I can't really vote democracy. Nor do I agree that any one human or group of humans can make decisions for the whole, so I can't vote dictatorship. It's a null vote for me, then, unless you add the option "benevolent dictatorship under A.I. that possesses few, if any, human qualities" or several other, less ideal options.
