Yeah, that makes sense. I once "shared" a host family with a Taiwanese guy (they were hosting 2 students at once) and the first time he told me "Chinese eat babies" I was sure he was joking. Or that we were miscommunicating; after all, neither of us spoke Japanese as a native tongue. But no. Dead serious. :banghead:

It bugs the hell out of me, mainly because it chillingly reminded me of the old "Jews eat Christian babies" canard -- you read history books and you're like, "How can people ever have believed such stupid shit?" Well, apparently it's more possible than you think...

Actually, "stringy" isn't quit the right word...mucus-like describes it better...kinda like snot...

(Reminds me of the first time that my ex-wife and I were trying to get pregnant, and we wanted a girl, so we tried this thing we read about where we checked everyday to see how - and this is *really* gross, so stop reading now if this kind of thing offends you - where we checked everyday to see how stringy her vaginal mucus was...ah...those were the days! *sigh*! Young, naive, and horny...as opposed to now, where we are old, naive and I am sexually frustrated...)

I have never seen this personally but the description of it grosses me out. Apparently in Thailand, eating monkeys' brains is quite popular. A description of what they do can be found in this link

Ps - I am not sure if this riddle has been circulated before. But why can't Adam and Eve be Chinese ?

Yap, it smells so bad that Singapore's MRT (the equivalent of subway in New York and the tube in London) does not allow passengers to carry it on board.

Liver is gross. Really, really gross. I've tried it five times in my life (experience tells me my tastes change with time - I never used to like mushrooms, and now cannot imagine cooking without them). Every time, I've puked just from the taste.

I cannot swallow spinach - it makes me gag!
I've heard some people actually enjoy eating endive (spelling?). It takes all sorts.

Since a bad tummy upset a couple of years ago, kidneys are out, too. Not so much the taste, as the psychological effect...

But the absolute worst is celery. Celery should be kept in a sperate, air tight container, so that it cannot contaminate real food. Last time I was at my Mum's, she made the mistake of serving me a salad, the components of which had shared a compartment in the fridge with the celery. I nearly puked, it was so gross... and this was "second hand celery residue". I shudder to think of the spewage should I accidentally try to consume the genuine article!

There's one chinese food that I don't touch. It tastes good, but the smell overwhelms me. You never realize how much of a role the sense of smell plays in eating utnil you eat this.

It's Tso Tofu--literally translated, it means "stinky tofu".

And man does it stink. They fry it up in some sort of fish oil that has probably been left to rot for days. *gah*

All this and not one person has mentioned ludefisk.

And, I've always wondered about that Mongolian delicacy, fermented mare's milk.
