My mom cuts my Dad's hair while he yells at her that she is doing it wrong. What does this mean?
Anyway. I think it had more to do with personality than anything else. The personality of the child, that is. Example: I have a brother who is 21 who still lives with my parents. My dad still tells him when to shower, shit and shave. Basically without going into exhaustive details, I will just say that I do not believe that he will ever be a man and I can see how it is the way he was raised and beat down physically and mentally by my father that crippled his growth. Because he fears my father so much, he has developed some sort of alliance with my mother, who coddles him and is extremely exasperated with him at the same time. He is totally apathetic about his life, to the point he doesn't take care of normal things, like his car. He will run it into the ground before taking the time to check and change the oil, and ignore noises that are important signs of something wrong. His main goal in life seems to be sitting around in front of the tv, masturbating. He is, however, a True Believer tm. He faithfully attends services when away from my parents, and leads singing at their church. I think I can safely say he won't ever develop the balls to question. He doesn't even think, just parrots what my father says and believes because of my father's inexorable hold on him. My other brother at 14/15 is more the man. There is hope to rescue him from fundyism yet. |

There's a variation on the same theme. Guys who have good loving relationships with women are not the ones who are going out and buying inflatable plastic party dolls. If you have the real thing you have no need for a bizarre substitute to ease your needs. If you have a nice everyday Dad (I did, but I called him Da because we are of Ireland) then of what possible use would a blow up father (and a invisible one at that) be to you? |
