Is it possible the object referred to is the cross-piece, the shorter, horizontal member? As I understand it, the stauros upon which a criminal was crucified was already at the site; the cross-pieces were new for each prisoner.

I can imagine someone being interred with his personal cross-piece, though I don't know why anyone would do so.

Unhappy

Somehow I find the idea of people using the stauros as a tent-pole a little hard to accept. It would be like camping under a gallows, wouldn't it?

Let's not forget Old Testament apocrypha and Pseudopigrapha like the Books of Enoch, Noah, Adam & Eve, The DSS 'Book of the Giants' The Apocalypse of Abraham etc. Very cool stuff, lots of stories about Angels screwing earth women and producing a race of ornery giants who rape cows and stuff. wild wild stuff!

offa, Thanks Marduck. Your profound remark was accurate. Of course, because I agree with you does not mean you agree with me. I accept that.

The angels were Hebrew Priests that took advantage of thier youthful clientele. Kind of like the Catholic Church scandal, except, it was more heteral.

thanks,
offa

How well attested are these books? Comparable to the rest of the gospels?

Question

Offa, why do you suppose I'm a fundie? I'm an atheist.

You're obviously a fundie because you don't agree with offa.

Ahhh. Thank you. Most illuminating.
Offa seems to regard this Barbara Thiering person as infallible. Me, I don't regard anyone or anything as infallible.
