Frequent purging will *eventually* damage the teeth regardless of rinsing/brushing although rinsing/brushing will definitely lessen the damage. It can also vary from person to person as far as how long it takes as some people have much stronger tooth enamel naturally.

For instance (I've already let it all hang out earlier in the thread so why not!) despite having gone through several recurring purging phases throughout my 20's, I did not suffer any tooth damage whatsoever. However, someone who is severely bulimic for long periods (consistently for years at a time) is almost guaranteed to suffer some tooth damage.

There are other ways of "purging" as well - compulsive excercise, laxative/diuretic abuse (although the latter alone won't prevent weight gain when someone is eating that much). Also the binge/starve "compensatory" cycle I mentioned before.

Yesterday she ate 9 pieces of thick-crust Pizza Hut pizza (supreme) and drank four Mt Dews. And that was during her lunch break!
Gosh, even though my brother ate a lot, he never had that much (close though). I usually had 4-5 pieces at by highest weight (which was almost 300lbs, wow, don't like that idea again).

Something sure seems odd, that is about 5000 calories I would bet, at least. I mean, I have seen very large people eat that much, but not skinny ones (or at least they never ate that way around me, I was always the big eater).

Very incredible.

Default Tapeworm, methinks

A friend of mine once had a tapeworm. He said that he used to eat whole cakes (!!) as in "What my mother used to bake for the whole 5-person-family" (!!!) and still never gained a pound. However, when he found out about his blind passenger and the doctor gave him something to expel the guest, he quickly gained weight. He's now rather corpulent, but not fat.
Other than that, I'd guess digestion problems. But wouldn't Bree's friend/coworker then have a rumbly tummy all the time?

I have a freind who developed an overactive thyroid gland in college. She said she ate a huge amount of chips, candy, sodas, etc. and still lost weight. She was really hyper at first, then she started having real problems. When she finally got tested, her doctor said her thyroid levels were so high she should be dead.

Has this girl always been like this? If not, it might be in her best interest to go see a doctor.

But I feel your pain, Bree. Whatever the situation, it's hard to have to watch that kind of overendulgence. BTW, does her stomach stick out after all that pizza? Where does it all go?

The whole point of fashion magazines is to make you feel bad about how you look so you'll buy the advertised beauty products. I am continually amazed by how many women I otherwise respect and admire who read those rags. I am not a high-brow guy by any means but I wouldn't be caught dead reading Maxim or GQ, the male equivalents of fashion magazines.

I did the same thing when I was pregnant with my daughter. I ate everything in sight. Seriously. One day I spent $40.00 at the food court at the Montclaire Plaza on food for just me. The day my water broke I had just finished eating 2 big macs and fries.

However I gained 86 pounds with my pregnancy. Normal weight gain is 25 - 35 pounds. I was huge. My brothers called me "Babalouie" and everytime I went to my doctor he told me "Amie slow down" even though I did eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, I was constantly hungry. I use to crave McDonalds chicken nuggets, the 20 piece box

I do recall thinking "Oh God she is going to be like 15 pounds and I am going to be on the news for having this huge baby"
she was only 6 pounds...Breastfeeding was a great weight loss program. She sucked me dry.

I'm glad to know there's a simple, and happy, explanation for it.

(Also, she's not going to be a size six in a few months )
