laser printer. eat at mcdonalds or whatever for a month. get a laser printer. this may sound silly but belive me, those guys are damned right. They're more expensive yes, media may be a bit more, but they're waaaaaaay more durable (mostly) and the print quality is outstanding, and they can chuck out pages that look hella pro like mad.
I print 20-40 pages a DAY, and there's no way an inkjet is going to live through that. Don't think you're going to trudge down to the library at 2 am to print out your final draft after the first month of school ![]() |

Total agreement. A decent cheapish laser will pay for itself in ink in a month. If you can, get one that does PostScript. It's worth it.

Definately inkjet. The ink costs more per refill, but is cheaper in page output, on average.
Imagine: $14 for a black cartridge in DeskJet, get maybe 60 full pages of print from it. $40 for a black InkJet cartridge, get maybe 240 full pages of print from it. no contest. |

I unexpectedly received a bonus this year, so I bought a Dell laptop. Inspiron 8200, 1.8Ghz processor, 384Mb Ram, NVidia GeForce 4 440 Go video card, internal wireless network adapter, and a 15" screen with 1600x1200 native resolution. Yeah, it's sweet.
I've taken it to a couple of LAN parties, and it can be used as a game system even for video-card-intensive FPS games like BF1942. Not the right choice if you're looking for a bargain, but if you're a video game player this system will handle today's games. I don't know what it will do with the next generation. Speaking of printers, power consumption used to be a concern with laser printers for in home use. Is this not a big deal any more? I definately need a new printer. I've had the same HP inkjet for something like seven or eight years. |

Power consumption has gone down a lot in the last few years, for all periphrials.
The sheer number of them have gone up, making the overall consumption soar, but each item is more efficient. |
