This might be more appropriate for the Science and Skepticism forum, but it relates to the earlier thread about NDE's providing evidence for a soul or spirit. This is a link to a very recent report in Nature which shows that out-of-body perceptions, which are frequently part of NDE's can be produced by stimulating part of the cerebral cortex, specifically the right angular gyrus. I think it's certain that all these phenomena are the result of altered brain physiology and need no supernatural explanation. http://www.nature.com/nsu/020916/020916-8.html

Jerry:
Just an honest question. Can you honesstly think of one event that does 'need a supernatural explanation'? I can't, but... Keith. |

You are absolutely correct. Poor phraseology on my part. But... Michael Jackson also comes to mind... [ October 16, 2002: Message edited by: JerryM ]
|

JerryM, I moved that topic to the Non-Abrahamic Religions forum. Would you like me to do the same with this, or put it in Science&Skepticism, where I would say it more properly belongs? I'll wait for your response.

I also think it should go to Science and Skepticism.
