why NOT dish out punishments the way God does??? 19 arabs crashed two planes into the world trade center. so, let's punish EVERY arab on earth with death, pestilence, excruciatingly painful childbirth (should be easy to do with the right amount of chemicals), and all sorts of other woes. we'll hound them for the slightest misdeed, randomly kill huge swaths of them at whim, and make up entirely arbitrary laws they must live by. if they don't follow these incredibly arbitrary laws, we'll kill large swaths of them, at random.
we'll give them large and prosperous countries, and then take those countries away from them at the drop of a hat. we'll sell them into 400 years of slavery, and tell them we love them as we do it. then, we'll butcher their slave-holders and set them free, but our arbitrary laws will require them to wander around a puny stretch of desert for 40 years before we finally take pity of them and let them into lands that don't belong to them, forcing them into a perpetual state of war with the natives of that land. yeah, let's be just like God in our justice system. :banghead: happyboy, glad that God does not exist, and neither does original sin |

Appeal to Ignorance, Magus. When you can prove God exists, we'll take you seriously. Your people have only been trying to prove it for, what, 10k years or so?

Happyboy would be irrational and incorrect to assert that absolutely NO gods exist since theres always the possiblity that a real one might be kicking around somewhere out there. |

I think for the purpose of this discussion it would be useful to distinguish between sex (gender) and gender role/identity. From here:
sex - The biologic character or quality that distinguishes male and female from one another as expressed by analysis of the individual's gonadal, morphologic (internal and external), chromosomal, and hormonal characteristics. gender - Category to which an individual is assigned by self or others, on the basis of sex. Gender role - the public presentation of gender identity; specifically, everything a person says and does that signals to others or to the self that one is male or female (or androgynous). Gender identity - the consistency and persistence of one's individuality as male, female, or androgynous. Particularly as experienced in self-awareness; the internalized representation of gender role. |

magus55, the day you prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt that your God exists, is the day i beg your forgiveness and become the loudest and most ardent follower of Christ.
happyboy, glad he'll never have to apologize |

*Points Magus55 towards Mageth's proposed homework assignment for the creator of the scientific-accuracy-of-the-bible thread.*

Pay no heed to anything magus says. I'm still waiting for him to address challenges to his unsupported assertions about the Dead Sea Scrolls over in Biblical Criticism & Archaeology, which sure make it look like he'll say anything to support his opinions, up to and including making things up out of thin air.

Speaking of the fruit in the garden of eden, I often wonder what kind of fruit is that. Just imagine, a being could just gain instant knowledge by eating it. If a dog ate it, I bet there will be talking dogs all over the world instead of humans. Anyway, maybe the fruit make Adam and Eve to be 'more aware' by enlarging their brain cells. I wonder do anyone here have a proper explanation of whether the existence such a fruit is possible or not within our universe? :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: |
