Didn't Augustine teach that this sin was final impenitence only? So, it was only unforgivable because the person refused God's forgiveness even until he/she died? I have seen a lot of other interpretations, though...

I believe blasphemy of the Holy Spirit different because it is the actual Spirit of God.
When you speak against Jesus,you are speaking out against a mere flesh man. When you speak against God,you are railing against an Entity that you can't comprehend to begin with,or simply don't believe in. But when you blaspheme the Holy Spirit,you are denying the workings of God here on earth,which were and are still manifested through His Spirit in all believers. So you could say that to deny and debunk the miracles of God would be a form of blasphemy. That is of course,given those "miracles" are not just tricks or illusions done in the name of God. I for one believe with all my heart that those such as Benny Hinn are performing falsely,for money alone. But that's not to say that miracles are never done through believers in this day and age. But that's a whole nother story... |
