Maybe someone should ask Socrates why Sarfati still hasn't owned up to the error about chicken lysozyme.

There is an email from Sarfati reproduced at:

http://www.skeptical-christian.net/m...rfati_one.html

This is valuable since it shows bit of how he writes in less formal venues than AiG official publications, etc.

Notice more similarities to Socrates: the intential mispelling of the name to form an insult and far more importantly the ad hominem attack on credentials.

Look at this archived article:

Quote:
By comparing lysozyme and lactalbumin, Dickerson and Geis (1969) found that humans were closer to chickens than to any other mammal they tested. [Author’ note: all the same, the statement in the book, ‘Human lysozyme is closer to chicken lysozyme than to that of any other mammal’, is a mistake and will be corrected in a future printing of the book].
Of course the "correction" is equally wrong. Having personally examined Dickerson and Geis and can say he did not get it from them though historically that book has been long abused by the creationists on this matter. The current version on AiG's site has deleted all mention of the lysozyme claims. The PDF has not been updated and is from at least two versions back.

If anyone is interested, Denis Lamoureux just came to the TheologyWeb. Should be interesting.

I think I'll start commenting, in response to posters saying Socrates parrots from AiG, "Hey, there's nothing in the forum rules preventing you from quoting your own website".

I'd like to see someone challenge Socrates in a 'Boxing Ring' debate on the age of earth or common ancestry. Winace, have you thought about that? You'd roast him.

Negative for now. I don't have free access to the science journals, and with no car, getting to the nearest university to check in their library is a bit difficult (checking creato misuse of the journals is a MUST in any of these debates).

Furthermore, I don't have any formal training that would let me spot BS outside of the basics that I've read.

However, I would *love* to see RufusAtticus, Dr.GH or pz rip him a new one =)

Sorry, but what little I've read by Socrates simply nauseates me. The man is a sick, lying, fundie fraud.

A 'debate' wouldn't be interesting. I'd say something, then he'd mangle my name in some peculiar and rather juvenile way, and quote the bible.

I would wager that pz is on target. There would also be a dozen or so links to AiG, and the whine that nasty evil scientists don't devote years of study to creationists drivel.

He is also one of the biggest hypocrites I have ever observed -- even online.

How many people in the same breath can accuse the other side of using ad hominem arguments and in the same breath dismisses credentials, changes "Glenn Morton" to "Glenn Moron", uses words like bozo and other insults. And this is often in the same post.

He loves to use the word "nonscientist" and by that reasoning his side's lack of scientists should mean that his side can be dismissed on the same reason he tries to dismiss ours.
