Default Just saw Spiderman, it sucked!

Alright, I never wanted to see it. I figured it wasn't going to be good. But then everyone said it was good and some said they were surprised.

I was right. The special effects were terrible, completely outside of the movie unlike those seen in X2. The acting wasn't good and the timeline was too rushed. Spiderman is saving the city for one scene and all of a sudden its like its been years.

The only good thing was Kirsten Dunst, but even then that wasn't too great.

I want my 2 hours back.

I wouldn't say it totally sucked, it was just unbelievably over-hyped and is now way overrated. The special effects were bad-- like a PS2 video game on the big screen-- and the script sucked too. The worst scene, in my opinion, was when Spiderman and the Green Goblin were talking on a rooftop or something (I don't remember it clearly since I only saw it once). Talk about fake looking costumes and cheesy dialogue.

So many people consider this the greatest superhero film of all time, but it's not even in my top 5. I think the first Blade movie is better, as are the first two Superman films, the first Batman movie and X2 (Spiderman was better, however, than the first X-Men film which does suck).

One thing that can ruin a movie for me is horribly obvious CG, which this movie was full of. I wasn't too impressed with most other aspects of the fim either, although I would still say its worth watching once.

The CGI was absolutely terrible, and the dialogue was awful. But I've heard some argue that the dialogue was purposely awful to reflect comic books (which, although many of you will have my head for saying this, usually have horribly melodramatic dialogue).

Big points for "Sorry I'm late. Work was murder." and "Crap, crap, double-crap."

I bought the DVD more for the extras then the movie. It was bad - but not "Waterworld" bad, more "Star Trek: Generations" bad.

Huh. Up until X2, Spider-Man was my favorite superhero movie, not that it had much competition; superhero movies uniformly suck, in that they almost always fail to capture the flavor of the comics they're based on.

I thought that was where Spider-Man really shined (shone?). No, the CG was not photorealistic. It did, however, do a damned good job, IMO, of capturing the sense of fun inherent in swinging through New York on a webline. Similarly, the dialogue won't win any Oscars, and some of it was just painful (i.e. Peter and MJ in the hospital room, for example), but it captured the comicbook feel very well, again, IMO.

I like it, I gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars. It gave it the same as LOTR ane Ep2.

My problem was that Spiderman went from being normal geek to superhero in a day. I was under the impression that it took a bit longer, I thought he boxed, and for a while, too not wrestled. "With great power comes great responsibility." Yeah, overnight? I think they condensed way too much and then ending? All of a sudden all of New York is on the bridge backing Spiderman, who for some reason didn't like him before? And the MJ falls in love with the guy for no reason. There was absolutely no cohesion with any scenes in the movie. Its almost like they were asking, you know that previous scene? Forget about it.

Day 1: Normal
Day 2: Weird, wrestles Machoman Randy Savage, wins, uncle dies because of his extremely brief indifference, decides to become superhero.
Day 3: Saves city
Day 4: City hates him
Day 5: City loves him and throughs vegatables at William DeFoe.

But as I see Day Two, Xmen doesn't have Rogue or Pyro or Iceman just going out and being superheroes after learning of their powers. They need to learn about them first. Spiderman is flying through the buildings once he learns he has webs. I mean, come on. I know its a comic book, but a little reality would be nice.

When did the city hate him? I had the impression it was just J. Jonah along with some cops who wanted to arrest him.

I thought there was supposed to be a big time gap in the movie from when he was wearing the cheap home-made outfit for wrestling and when he was an actual superhero living in an apartment with Norman Osborne's kid (didn't he graduate from high school in between?)
