"A country that wasn't theirs"...that's a revealing statement. Who decides? You? Me? Your neighbor?
Its not a question of deciding; its a matter of history. Read "Image And Reality Of The Israel-Palestine Conflict" by Norman Finkelstein, and you will get the facts that show that this is no matter of opinion.

I don't think I'd accept Finkelstein as a neutral observer. He appears to have a one-sided agenda. The issue in question here is the right of return for the Jews to their common homeland, is it not?

"More than 2500 years ago, the Assyrians and Babylonians forced the people of Israel out of their homeland. Many returned during the centuries that followed and then Jesus appeared, about 2000 years ago, and announced that he is the Messiah. Later, the people of Israel were again forced out of their land (by the Romans in 135 AD) and scattered to countries throughout the world.

But, during the past few centuries, millions of exiled Jews around the world have returned to their ancient homeland."

If not, then how can you not support the Palestinians? If so, then how can you justify, say, the Americans fighting against the British in the War of 1812?

Personally, I have no problems with the Palestinians resisting the Israelies; and, in fact, I'd have no qualms with them destroying the Israeli nation. I DO have qualms with them killing civillians, but the Israelis are responsible for just as many civillian deaths as the Palestinians.

No, I'm not "Anti-Jewish", but I am "Anti-Israeli Imperialism".

I feel the Israelies should either agree to split the land 50/50 evenly with the Palestinians, or just get the hell out; as it wasn't their land to conquer to begin with.
So why, on the basis of your own analogy, aren't you arguing that the United States should split its land 50/50 evenly with the native Americans, or else just get the hell out? It wasn't their land to conquer to begin with.

And if you think the Israelis should 'get the hell out', where do you think they should go?
