Anyone remember the comic book "The Maxx" (it was also a TV show on MTV, I believe)? Is it still in publication? The local comic book store hasn't been able to locate it in a few years. Is it still around?

Bree and kwigibo ~
I am fairly sure that 'The Maxx' maxxed out at issue #35 back in 1998. Sam Keith has not cancelled the series officially, but has moved on to other projects. That was the last I heard anyway. The Oddities series on MTV contained the comic storyline up to issue #11 and was outstanding. Artists never seem to stop amazing me. Keith was one of my favorite writers and artists when I still collected. He did some great work on Gaiman's Sandman series and Hellraiser. Reality intervened several years ago and I was evicted from my own Outback. As a result, I sold off bits and pieces of my collection which dated back to 1975. Currently, I still have issues 1-4, 10 and 11 and a still sealed special addition entitled 'Darker Image', which was Maxx's first comic book appearance. I would be honored to send you these issues, Bree, if you have a secure shipping address you would feel comfortable providing via email ~ once you have enjoyed them, feel free to keep them or forward them on to kwig. ~ meep... |

Yes, The Maxx ended around issue thirty-five. I have them all, plus the Friends of Maxx specials that came later. *sigh* Why must all the comics I collect end or get cancelled while garbage continues to be churned out? *chuckle*

It's very difficult to be that creative for long stretches. I think Neil Gaimen did the right thing by ending "Sandman" for instance. Or Babylon 5, which had a end point planned from the beginning.
Counter-example would be the Simpsons, of course Goreling(sic) turned over most the creative over to others. |

Well, I also own every issue of Spawn, so I suppose I am part of the very problem I am complaining about. |
