Wow. Being called a "mental midget" by someone who can't piece together complete, grammatically correct sentences is really insulting.

Dr Leary said 'reality is an opinion.you make up your own reality'.He called our brain a 3billion neuron illusion generating device. He was of course a harvard prof. and an early transcendent guru to the lost generation.

That is an interesting question. Reality, what is real to us as concious observers, is based on the physical being of all objects in the universe, and the meaning that is ascribed to them by observers. The physical exists without the observer, but has no meaning at all, but with the observer there is ascribed meaning. Meaning is basically subjective based on the observers concious condition, history, and biases.

So, if we define reality by the above criteria, that it is dependant on the physical and the observational, then I would say that indeed, reality is perception.

In other words Majestyk, you say to mah to, I say to may to.

Perception is just an analogue signal anyways.

I'm singing this note 'cause it fits in well with the song I'm playin'
I can't pretend there's any meaning here, or in the words I'm sayin'
But I'm in tune.

Yeah, but we're both talking about a fruit that makes a great sauce for pizza and pasta.

I wasn't really taking exception with you statements, WWSD. In fact they reflect my own view fairly well. Which is to say that there is a duality to existence. Perception is reality (subjective) yet; there must be a reality (objective) to be perceived.

Then again since, at the quantum level, there is no separation between macro objects, such as us, which, means we are simply patterns within a pool of quantum energy then, do we exist at all?

I'll think that we don't and then life will smack me upside the head and then I'll think "Well that seemed real enough." and abstract thoughts on the nature of existence will take a backseat on the vehicle that carries my priorities. But I'll still have things figured out well enough.

And then someone will come along and ask, "Why do you believe?" and that just throws me all into a kind of philosophical conniption fit. Most distressing now that I think of it.

Fruit!?! You mean a tomato is a fruit?!? Well, that throws my reality into a tizzy.
