Default "Under God" Still unconstitutional

Circuit Court says F-off Bush.
Well, they didn't actually say that, but this does mean the case will go to the Supreme Court, that is, if they'll hear it. I'm kinda surprised, myself. I thought they would have folded. Next up, the bible in court.

It'll be cool watching the Supremes smack it down.

Exclamation

Yeah...everyone knows that claiming to be "Under God" has absolutely nothing to do with religion.

What do you find "cool" about forcing children to make a pledge about something they may not agree with?

It's short-sighted comments like this, where the person cannot recognize a flaw in the process such that the result would be objectionable if the facts were simply changed (i.e. forcing students to say "Under Satan" or "Under Absolutely Nothing") that drives me nuts.

I bet you would be a barrel of freakin' laughs if I was a teacher and required your daughter to pledge that there is no God.

Have some sense of intellectual integrity. And try reading some of the writings by the Founders of this country before popping off about how the U.S. Constitution was formed for the purposes of promoting Christianity.

How can "Under God" be unconstitutional? Bush himself said the other day that democracy was a gift from God! How can there be democracy if there is no God?!?! What are you a bunch of pagan baby-eating commies?

And besides, God is just a generic word for "higher power" that can mean anything from Zeus, to Vishnu, to Reeses Peanut-Butter cups...

Wink

Democracy was a gift from God! He generously chose to give it to the pagan Greeks first, even though there were some perfectly good Israeli tribespeople just down the Mediterranean coast, and even though the Greeks weren't currently worshipping Yahweh at the time! This is a new one for God. Clearly, He was trying get beyond tribal bigotry.

Thumbs down

Well, if Bush is so sure that democracy is a gift of god then he can be the first to offer up a sacrafice to Zeus. After all, democracy is a Greek concept. Jehovah had nothing to do with it.

The Isrealites had absolutely no notion of the concept. The only political systems in the Old Testament are authoritarian, theocratic and bloodthirsty as hell.

Well thats the problem. No matter whether it is God or god, it excludes us cute and adorable atheists. That was a great argument he made. It might even stick in the highest court, of course, it would be a liberal commie court.

Hi, Ultron. I guess you got bored using your inferior debating skills on Tcom, eh? Well, I hope you're a masochist, because you'll get your ass handed back to you by just about everyone here. And you thought it was hard with only UrsaMajor and Miang kicking you around? Heh. I can't wait until you meet Buffman in the CSS forum. That'll be...amusing.

I prefer to replace "under God" with "under Canada"
