And by the way, a lot of people were booing, and that's to be expected really, but as i listened closely, someone was definitely booing into a microphone. I think one of the production crew must be a bush supporter. Not that that means anything, i just think it's funny.

I don't think it's that at all. I think he was sincere, and sincerity among any public figure is always nice.

I can't speak for others, but my point is that many are saying how wonderful his words were, and how inappropriate Moore's were.

If you're statement is true it would be sad. But it appears among some that the reverse is true, and that to me is equally sad.

Captain Pedantic:
I would say that the vast majority of human rights that have been won over the past however many years would not have been won without disruptive protest.

The suffragist women, when campaigning for the vote, broke the windows of shops. They got in the way. They fucked things up. Would all of you people have told them that there were "better" ways they could have made their feelings known? Would you have told all the people who wanted the same rights for the black race as the white race that there was a "time and a place"?

I don't mean to compare anyone here to racists or other bigots, but it is clear to me that disruptive protest is necessary for those who truly want their voices heard, and history has shown it to be so.
This is SO true. Is any unpopular movement ever considered to be employing "proper" means of expression? It's the winners-write-the-ettiquette-books phenomenon.
