LOL! Wow. Luna, I'm glad you've fixed it, but for a while there you sounded exactly like my dad after a root canal.

Forgive my computer stupidity, but what is a hotkey?

A hotkey is where you assign a particular function or symbol to one button on your keyboard.

For example, it looks like Lunachick had a hotkey where the keyboard was switched over to the rest of the ANSI special character set, so instead of "f" being printed when the "f"-button on the keyboard is pressed, an "" was printed instead.

Hotkeys can be any function you assign to them; you just press the button and the hotkey function is then turned on.

And I ♥ ߃.

Funniest post thus far this year! I couldn't stop laughing. (I was laughing with all of you, not at any of you in particular!)

LOL!!

I'm so glad I got it all worked out before buying yet another keyboard. The one I have now is only two weeks old.

What happened after the phonebook landed on it (my lazy daughter threw me the book when I wanted to look up a number), was that everytime I hit the "e" key, windows explorer would open - when I hit the "f" key, "find files" would open - "d" would make the desktop appear, hiding everything else - and that sort of thing. No character ever had the chance to make it as text. Very frustrating.

I managed to type my later message by using the character map - but it took me a little while to realise that the entire western alphabet (without accents, umlats and the like) was available in that function. That is why I started that post off with funny letters, but then changed to use normal ones.

I'm very relieved that I did not have a virus, and did not have to spend any more freakin' money on stupid things.

Anyway, I'm happy to have provided you all with some humour during my hotkey nightmare.

Actually, call your ISP first. Make them take at least an hour to explain to you why they have nothing to do with your keyboard.
BTW. This advice rocked!

Nope.

'twas a genuine pc mishap.

Actually, I type very well when I'm drunk. I don't make any sense in what I'm saying, but I spell everything excellently.

(No, I'm not drinking at the moment. )
