Interesting. I wonder what they think of homosexuality? As far as I know, there's nothing in the NT that forbids it. All the biblical objections to it that I'm aware of occur in the OT. |

The views on homosexuality vary, with my parents being the most liberal (Mom would be fine if I was lesbian, Dad would at very least accept me as his daughter and try his best not to take any personal reservations out on me). But some of Dad's siblings and in-laws are not so. For example, one aunt stopped watching "ER" because one doctor was lesbian. The same aunt's 9-year-old laughs hysterically--and scornfully--at any suggestion of someone being gay. Actually, she has 5 kids, but we won't get into that... Oh, and one of Dad's brothers angrily denies any "accusation" that homosexuality might be genetic or otherwise not a person's decision, because "That might almost be saying it's O.K."
There are 21--soon to be 22, by marriage--grandkids on Dad's side of the family. The odds for at least one of us not being bi/homosexual are not good. I really fear for the well-being of such a person in my family. (Most of them are not through puberty yet.) My relatives thoroughly endorse ex-gay programs, etc., because "They really do work!" Will someone please hold my hair out of the toilet while I vomit? [ November 12, 2002: Message edited by: Strawberry ]</p> |
