to add also that when Christ was asked by his disciples " how should we pray ", clearly his model of prayer is addressed to God only not to any other "party". So " technicaly" a christian ( that is one who claims to follow the teachings of Christ) ought to address his or her petitions to God. And also preferably without an audience...
But I would not use that argument to support the idea that catholicism is politheistic.
