Hey, comparisons with Hitler were made. Discussion over.

Fenton, you're asleep on the job man.

(But Jesus loves you the same anyway).

Hey! That's not very civil of you!

Y'know, that catchphrase has begun to lose its pazazz. You might want to adopt something more upbeat, like "Sock it to me!"

Don't let me distract you from your apparent newfound hobby of being ill-informed and belligerent!

Okay, I'm really going this time.

Which brings the sum total of your enlightening contribution to 14 whole words; none of them even remotely topic related.

Pot kettle etc.

I've been reading this for a couple of days.

This is unbelievable to me! You have to understand that MT was such an hero to me. I grew up wishing to become a nun so that I could carry her tourch. I wanted to be like her. Even a couple of years ago, when I was contemplating divorce, I decided that I would remain celebate until the kids grew older and then I would finally join an order and work on my vows. Even as an atheist, I thought of her as a saint. This blows my mind. I find it quite devastating if it's true. I don't want to believe it is, though.... If it is true, then MT was, indeed, an evil woman.

bg,

I haven't read the whole thread. I just want to comment that to me, motives are key. Someone who wants to help others but in fact ends up hurting others because of misinformation, is not evil, imo, in the way that someone who gains pleasure from hurting others, is evil.

And - "she should have known better" is a very subjective judgment. It's hard to know who should have known better, imo.

I will politely disagree. I see evil as consequence not as intention, especially when ignorance is involved. Ignorance in my opinion counts almost as great an evil as willful performances in evil acts, such as Eichmann who operated the death machine because "he was just following orders".

I would say most sufferings in this world come from the followers and not the dictators themselves, no matter the intention (Hannah Arendt's "Eichmann in Jeuresalem--the Study of the Banality of Evil" comes to mind)
