My senators are Don Nickles and James Inhofe. Which one of these two thickys do you imagine gives a shit? (But I agree with you in principle)

Nothing to add. Just thought that was worth a replay.

from the article:

Today, Bush thanked his listeners for their prayers, suggesting he would need them in the days ahead. "Let us pray for strength equal to our tasks," he said.
Why not work toward developing a brain that is equal to the occasion instead?

I disagree about the abortion rights threat, however. I don't think Bush can drag his feet enough on that issue. The Repubs prefer having it as a campaign wedge issue more than they care about seeing it resolved in Falwell's favor.

"The Handmaid's Tale" Anyone, anyone, Bueller?

I'm agreeing here. I'm not kidding, I job searched in the Vancouver Sun today. Great place to get a job if you want to be a call girl. Harder if you want to produce TV/videos.

Angry To plagiarize Dave Barry's comment on Nixon...

Bush Jr. looked pretty lively during his recent State of the Union address, despite the holes in his suit where various stakes had been driven into his heart.

If he's hurt he should consider a less public career. That would be a relief, wouldn't it?!!!

I don't even want to think about what it will be like if that weasel gets re-elected. If you think he's a right wing religious zealot now, wait until he doesn't have to worry about getting re-elected and goes forth to fully pay back the Xtian fundies that put him in office.

Quoting the article:

Turning to matters overseas, the president said America's enemies "hate the thought [that] . . . we can worship the Almighty God the way we see fit."

Similarly he regularly says things like 'our enemies hate our freedom' etc.

I don't know which is more pitiful, the fact that Bush actually believes this is true, or that he's willing to spout such propoganda to further his interests. Odds are it's the former, he's shown many times how incredibly ignorant he is of the rest of the world.

I'm with dangin on this one....I'm looking to leave Madison WI anyway, and if anybody in Canada knows of a company that needs an experienced optomechanical engineer, I'm your man.

I'm fed up with the fundamentalism in the US, and it isn't going to get better anytime soon.

British Columbia, I think I would really like it there...
