Well, now the cat's out of the bag. SE, that's what I thought was so funny, that you were deliberately imitating a creationist by blatantly ignoring valid arguments and evidence, and by repeatedly putting forth a big ol' Argument from Incredulity. If you were, you did a spectacular job by creating doubt as to what your point actually was. I didn't want to spoil it by pointing it out directly.

If that's not what you were doing, then shame on me because it's usually not my style to ridicule someone's debating style without substantively addressing their arguments.

Basically, I still don't know what the hell's going on. I'll just withdraw myself from this thread and go drink heavily.

By the way, what method is used to accurately measure the heights of cliffs and buldings, etc?

mesure the distance from a point a few hundred meteres out to the base, then mesure the observed angle to the top. since you have a right-angle triangle, you can use trig to find the hight of the object.

Or you can just use an altimeter, or drop a rope and mesure it, many methods.
