Reading the Holocaust Revisionist thread reminded me of an incident that happened several months ago:

I was having a conversation with a friend from back home, and during the course of the conversation, he mentioned that the media is super-liberal and anti-Christian. Ohhhkay, I thought. I tried to explain to him why Fox News isn't really "fair and balanced," and told him why CNN isn't the "Clintonian News Network", and how pretty much all the mainstream news outlets are very centrist, and only slightly left of center or right of center, etc etc, and how after fox news came along, the other stations started to become more right-of-center in their commentary and reporting, in order to win back the viewers fox stole from them.

He doesn't listen, and he tells me to look at hollywood, how it's anti-christian, which is no surprise since "the Jews control the Media and have taken it over." He then listed a bunch of jewish actors, directors, and producers.

OK, so aside from the fact that Steven Spielberg, Ben Stiller, Sammy Davis Jr., Mel Brooks, and Connie Chung are Jewish... why on earth would anyone think this way? I told him that that sounded like a pretty anti-semetic thing to say... perhaps i used the wrong word, but nevertheless if he had simply said, "Wow, there are a lot of Jewish ppl in the media," no big deal. But to state that they were also out to "get" christians, or to push a zionist agenda, what's up with that?

I had nothing to say to him at the time to refute his claims, and forgot about it until now.

Thoughts anyone? How would you respond to these kinds of claims?

Bonk him on the head with a trout.There's nothing like a good trout slapping to bring a person to their senses.

Other than that,ask for specific anti christian or zionist examples.He'll probably stick to claims about the success of the Jewish people he names,and claim some nebulous conspiracy,but try to get him to go into specifics.

It really seems like he's just rattling off a list of successful people of one religious persuasion,without comparing that group,to their counterparts from other religions.It sounds like your friend wants to believe in this,regardless of how outlandish it seems.

Ha! I've heard this anti-Semitic crap before. Just explain to your friend that the reason that Jews are so noticeable in the media and entertainment industry (not to mention the legal and medical professions etc) is that we are extremely intelligent, talented and attractive (okay not always this last one!).

And forget the trout slapping - just kick him in the balls

I wish the jews would take over America. They'd be a hell of a lot better than the freaking christians. The Jewish faith has been around long enough that they don't even care when other jews are secular, let alone the rest of us heathens.

You mean he said that all the media is super-liberal - except Fox, which is "fair and balanced". You could then say to him that he should just watch Fox news then. He probably think "right-wing" means super-nazi type propaganda and doesn't want to identify with that term. He'd see what you call right-wing as being normal and decent - and that your (alledgedly) balanced news (being left of his news) as very left-wing.

Why is it such a big deal if a Jewish person alledgedly cares about their homeland a lot? And what exactly have these Jews done to "get" Christians? e.g. what has Ben Stiller done? Or Steven Spielberg done? Did his pro-Jewish movie "Schindler's List" turn many away from Christianity and make them convert to Judaism? Isn't their God the same God anyway?

Saying the Jews are taking over the entertainment industry is soooo twentieth century... your friend should be afraid of the Scientologists. That's ever so much more hip.

If they keep making movies like "Battlefield Earth", the only thing Hollywood Scientologists will be taking is drink orders.

Jews taking over the media is about equivalent to the pro-homosexual agenda. Stupid, arrogent, and stupid. People who say or think these things just don't bother with reality. Look at the government and tell me there is a Jewish conspiracy. How many jewish people have been elected president in the US? I'll give you a hint, bagel.
