After learning that Bush has allocated $3.6 trillion dollars in tax cuts over the next 7 years to the richest americans while simultaneously cutting medicare, social security, and veterans benefits(veterans by 65%!), I have already placed my vote to impeach the president. How can our president be patriotic if he cuts veteran benefits by 65%? How can our president be just in lying directly to the public so that the media propoganda will stir enough votes to let him imperialistically take over a country for his own benefit. With Cheney's oil company getting a streamlined deal through the government with iraq, not to mention the millions of dollars that the president's cabinet is making off of this war, I am outraged that America is letting our government get away with this. Bush promised Afghanistan that he would help them out - he lied. We're gone from there and those people are left standing while the terrorist al-queda are filtering back into society. Bush told the people that there was a link between Saddam and Terrorism (aka 911) - there isn't (not any more so than any other middle-eastern country), yet the 15,000 people in New York City incessantly talked about 911 and saddam as if they were synonymous. A lot of my sources are from truthout.org, adbusters.org, and if you agree with me, then you can vent a little steam at theonion.com, since they are satirically mocking bush and all the crap he's getting away with. I love America and everything it stands for and I can't believe Americans are so gullible to believe what corporation news B.S. is being fed to them.

Religion does appear to be a factor. A lot of ordinary people do see all the PR that Bush is religious and assume a genuinely religious man could not be so evil.

It is true though, that many religious leaders have been on record stating they were against the War in Iraq. Of course they have spoken softly. I think the pope pretty much rolled over and played dead (True, he probably is close to it physically -- might be one reason why.)

I don't think anyone is against seeing ANY vicious dictator being taken out. The issue of course is at what cost.

$100 billion dollars on the US side plus the thousands of killed/maimed people. Did you see the picture of the Iraqi boy in TIME magazine whose arms were blown off, and with half of his remaining body charred from explosions. Doubt if there is much pain killer in the Iraqi hospitals--what do you think. He would probably be better off dead, I hate to say.

This gives new meaning to "support the troops."
