I think you're right, I just don't like going through the process. We moved to Oregon from CA, and our rights to eachother were cut back as soon as we crossed the state line. Right after we landed in town, we watched our state and 10 others vote in favor of those hateful amendments. Suddenly everything felt really lonely and unfriendly.
But I joined Basic Rights Oregon, and we made a bunch of friends within a couple weeks of moving here. We also started a long list of legal documents to gain back some of the rights we had in California. Give me a few more months and I'm sure my rightous indignation will be back to it's normal vigor. Then I'll feel a little tougher about backlash.

If Friday's decision survives the court of Appeals, then I'll be extatic. I would have hated to have seen a bunch of couples get married through this lower court's decision, then have their marriages nullified just a few months later like in San Francisco. That was heartbreaking.

Edited to add:
I'm still disappointed in the appeal, though. If the mayor didn't appeal, I would chance it, and get married, even if there was a risk of it being taken away.
