But I joined Basic Rights Oregon, and we made a bunch of friends within a couple weeks of moving here. We also started a long list of legal documents to gain back some of the rights we had in California. Give me a few more months and I'm sure my rightous indignation will be back to it's normal vigor. Then I'll feel a little tougher about backlash. If Friday's decision survives the court of Appeals, then I'll be extatic. I would have hated to have seen a bunch of couples get married through this lower court's decision, then have their marriages nullified just a few months later like in San Francisco. That was heartbreaking. Edited to add: I'm still disappointed in the appeal, though. If the mayor didn't appeal, I would chance it, and get married, even if there was a risk of it being taken away. |
