Kevin Dorner: You were treated fairly there.
DNAuion: No, I wasn't. You don't know the history. You are coming in at the end of the story and drawing a conclusion from that.

Kevin Dorner: Insulting moderators, of any forum, is not a good policy if you want to stick around.
DNAunion: Exactly - IF YOU WANT TO STICK AROUND. As I said here, I really didn't care if I got banned when I made the comments you note above. That was late in the game.

Kevin Dorner: If you have a complaint about moderation, take it up with administrators in a factual and professional manner, no matter where you are, and you may get a better response.
DNAunion: That's an interesting, lopsided, view of things. Here's a better one.

Everyone - posters and Moderators - should handle things in a factual and professional manner, no matter who they are dealing with. Had that been done in the first place, none of the follow up would have occurred.

No, that was not the implication, nor did I threaten to ban you. My point was precisely the opposite. You cannot claim that ARN banned you because they were unsympathetic to your ideas. You were banned solely because of obnoxious behavior...please do not be proud of that.

Now -- is this thread going to be reduced to nothing but an exercise of your overdeveloped persecution complex, and complaints about how unfair everyone is to you? Or could you possibly let it drop and instead go back to discussing something constructive?

Well, then let's hope your stay here is a more pleasant one than there.

In a situation like that, have an admin. evaluate it before it turns into a scrap with a moderator.

DNAunion: I feel I have a right to stand up for myself when I've been "wronged". It's that simple. It makes no difference whether the other party is Wolf or an ARN Moderator. My first response was an "If ... the ARN moderator did such and such, then...". The ARN moderator confirmed that he/she in fact did do the "if" part. And further rubbed salt in the wound while doing it. The ARN moderator also basically ridiculed me and other posters because we had complained about the rule-breaking behavior of one of our opponents - yet when I did the same to him, threads started getting locked, started disappearing, etc. I stand by ever bad thing I said about the moderation there, even if my response was in excess. But I blame that on the ARN moderator too. First, because I was giving him a taste of what he "ridiculed" me and another person for, and because I stated there several times that a simple apology from ARN moderator 3 at any time would have solved everything. He had the power to stop everything dead cold with a simple, "I am sorry". Does it matter that he is a moderator and I am a poster? Is that what determines who is right and who is wrong?

DNAunion: Why are you asking me?

Pangloss and Scientiae were both talking about me before I started posting in this thread? Why don't you ask them if they intend to stop?

And what about the new thread Scientaie started about DNAunion gets banned! Are you going to ask him if he plans to stop talking about this stuff?

pz: Or could you possibly let it drop and instead go back to discussing something constructive?
DNAunion: Uhm, I was talking about constructive stuff here at Infidels. Look at the links I provided above. I opened this thread and found Pangloss and Scientaie not doing as you want - not talking about something constructive, but instead, gossiping about me.

So again, aren't you asking the wrong person?

Thumbs down

DNA Union was one of the major reasons I quit ARN cold-turkey. For every post containing some actual discussion of ID and/or science, there were at least a dozen that were nothing more than attacks, justification, blame-shifting, obfuscation, etc., etc. All of it highly predictable, boring, and not conducive to a productive discussion.

OK, now wait for DNAU to post links to some of my ARN posts accusing me of ... whatever... in retaliation.

DNAunion: pz, now you also have to ask Lizard if he is going to let it drop!

Now I ask you, what did I do to Lizard in this thread? Am I allowed now to return fire with fire? Or must I just sit back and let everyone take their turn?

I would be favorably impressed with your maturity if you could, yes.

I'm the father of three children. I assure you, I've seen this act before.

This thread is getting sidetracked, so I have started a thread for users to discuss the moderation of E/C.

<a href="http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=58&t=001272" target="_blank">Here</a>

Please, let's take the discussion there.

ALL RIGHT YOU KIDS! DON'T MAKE ME STOP THIS CAR OR YOU'LL BE SORRY YOU WERE EVER BORN!

Heh, heh, I can still hear my old man 40 years later.

Actually, this whole thread just seems to be about ragging on ARN and while that can be fun, I can't see getting too worked up about it.

DNAunion, you have a bad temper. I understand, I have a short fuse as well. But we both know that this does not make us popular. Tuff. Change or live with it.

Edited to add:

While I'm here, I kind of recall Peter Soderqvist. Didn't he post a while at OCW??
