Angry Where are the *($*($@#(* weapons?

Where are they? We found a couple of campers, a couple of old warheads. THAT'S ALL! We were told imminent threat. Where are the weapons? How long do we have to wait until they say there are none?

That, my friend, is a very astute observation and ought to give people pause.

Well, I was gonna post a link to a headline story on MSNBC.com about Bush administration's concession that Iraq did not buy Uranium from Africa and Bush should not have stated that in his State of the Union speech, but, big surprise, a few minutes later, the headline is no longer this revelation to the public, the headliner is now abotu a shooting in Mississippi at Lockheed Martin. Fine, 7 people died. the bad part is I don't even see the story on the main page at all anymore. I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but this HAS to blow the liberal media myth out of the water!

Well, it looks like phaedrus caught the link and you can find it in this thread .

The point remains it came off the main msnbc page pretty quick!

The whole idea that Iraq posed any kind of threat to the United States was ludicrous from the get-go. The real reasons the war was fought had to do with long-term strategic objectives. While I don't have a problem with that per se I wish the administration would have tried to justify the war based on those objectives instead of insulting our intelligence with this WMD/terrorist baloney.

Personally I doubt this war (particularly the way it was carried out) is in the long-term strategic interests of the US, but we never got to debate that issue because the powers that be think the American public is too dumb to understand such complex grown-up matters. Just accept the story Daddy tells you, pay your taxes, and keep your little mouths shut.

And in those 11 years, they found and destroyed most of them. The information from this period wasn't good enough for the Bushies, however, so the UN attempted to get more. They got cut off at the knees after three months.

Now that we're allegedly in control of a nation that we supposedly had concrete proof was in violation of a peace treaty, three months isn't NEARLY long enough to find the weapons that we supposedly had concrete proof of the existance of.

Four more weeks would have been intolerably longer? Could we have waited at least three more days until Hans Blix gave his report, rather than just pick an arbitrary date and say "diplomacy has failed?"

And it's just possible the original inspections would have been more successful if the US hadn't sabotaged the inspection teams by inserting CIA spies into them.

Forget the weapons, where's Saddam? I'm beginning to wonder if even he ever existed!

Also, where are all his scores of doubles we were always told he had? Is there a cave near Tikrit with Uday, Qusai and 300 guys who all look like Saddam?
