Default A Cook's Tour

A tangent to the Iron Chef thread - anybody watch Anthony Bourdain in this show, also on the food network?

I'm about halfway thru his book "Kitchen Confidential". A really good read. He writes exactly like he talks on the show. If you have ever worked in the food industry you should read this, it's hilarious (and so true!!)

The book "A Cook's Tour" reveals just how puritanized (lets assume thats a word) the television series is by comparison. I love the show and consider it the best thing on the Food Network (faint praise), but I strongly urge you to get the book as well, a very fun read; although the constant reminders that he's a chest-beating unrepentant devourer of animal flesh does tend to become tiresome.

Count me in as a Tony Bourdain fan. We've seen pretty much all the episodes and thoroughly enjoyed them. They do leave out certain things that were in the book but his attitude still comes through. Love it.

Haven't seen the show or read that book but I did read Kitchen Confidential. That was a great book and rumor was David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club) was set to direct a movie based on it called Seared. I think it has been set on the backburner (so to speak) but could have been alot of fun.

Default No bammage here...

I absolutely LOVE Tony Bourdain! Can anyone possibly look any hotter in a tank top (this coming from a lesbian)? And a man-bag, too? Christ, I think I'm in love - oh, and he cooks too .

Seriously though - read the book and then go back and watch the TV series again. It's hilarious. You really know what's going through his head and you can see how it figures in to how he interacts with the people on TV. For example, the book explains that he gets high right before his huge meal in Fez. It puts a whole new spin on the episode!
