I never said my argument proves historicity. It seeks to demonstrate a ground zero. But absolutely nothing, eh? So if I said prince charming lived in a land far away in another time and place as compared to "Jesu wa a Jewish peasant who came from Nazareth and lived sometime in the first-third of the 1st century? Whether a sourceis talking about fairies living in clounds or real life-tangible human being makes no difference in historical studies?

But... many place the year of his death between 26thAD - 36thAD which are the years Pilate was Roman Procurator or Governor of Judea.

But I think thats avoiding the issue.
That is onkly one of he datums. Critique my specific argument if I am "avoiding the issue."

Moreover, you don't state the sources for your "datums" - you are shifting the argument. What we are concerned with is sources, sources, sources.
Looking for stranfds of independence in my sources would be a better way to go. I'll note that for a future update.

Historians use historical sources.
Or at least reliable sources.
Speaking of circular!!! How do you know a source is reliable or not? What standard is an ancient description of something judged by? Is there a big book of "truth" out there that everyone knows about but me? How does onek now any author of antiquity is "reliable"? Do you think "real" historians use Josephus? Is Joephus a "reliable" source? Do you think historians don't filter Josephus like they do the gospels?

I can take out every christian source you claim proves a HJ existed. If you feel you have them, cite them and passages that prove a HJ existed.
My two sources are Q1 and the Gospel of Thomas.

Do you accept the xistence of a written Q and its strata as argued by Kloppenborg (Formation) and others?

Do you acceot Q1 as a 1st stratum source?

All three points are piviotal to my argument.

Do you accept the independence of the gospel of Thomas? Would you dispute a dating in the first century for such a text?

I presume both.

Finally, do you think Q1 and THomas (earliest version?) are somehow dependent on one another? I deny this claim. Both independently drew from the sme core of material.

My argument for the HJ will be based upon these two texts with these assumptions. Do you disagree with any of them? Are you willing to work with them? My argument deals with the core of extremely early material they both independently used.

And when I say do you accept Q1 as a "first stratum" source I mean in the context of Christian literature. Its in the earliest layer of our written Christian sources (30-60 C.E.)

"Accepted methods of historical research" mandate historical until shown otherwise. The bar is generally set pretty low.

Because of the nature of this particular character, I think we need to go a little beyond that.
