1.) 6 day creation.

2.) Adam & Eve and the fall of man. 3.) Noah and the flood. 4.) Jesus the virgin born son of God who died for all our sins and floated bodily into Heaven. How come a literal belief in #1,#2 and #3 make you an ignorant and crazy fundamentalist, but a lliteral belief in #4 alone makes you a rational Christian? All four are wild claims with NO evidence to support them what so ever so what makes #4 perfectly acceptable while the other three are seen as crazy by most Christians? And why is there still a need to believe in #4 if #2 has been discarded? What did Jesus die for? [ July 21, 2002: Message edited by: Anunnaki ]
 |

I consider all believers in #1, #2 and #3 fellow Christians no matter what. They have every right to believe what they choose to believe. They don't need my permission to believe what they do. Best Regards, David Mathews |

Ugh. Goddamn David! Please try to refrain from any further involvement with me. It does not matter to me what you find offensive and THE WHOLE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND YOU AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE PART OF EVERY CONVERSATION! Well anyway, thanks for giving yet another meaningless answer to yet another question about Christianity.

I think that David Mathews has a right to respond, even if his response is totally beside the point, which it is.

I`m starting to wonder when we`re gonna change the name of this place to DavidMathews.com [ July 21, 2002: Message edited by: Anunnaki ]
 |

Hey come on now, I like David. He is about the only different view around here, and it is nice to have something to remind us why we rejected a belief in God.

I agree with you that all four claims are ridiculous. I know Christians who say they don't believe in #1,2,and 3, but #4 is necessary because we are all still sinners. I think this is based off the fact that humans do bad things sometimes. |

I`m sorry I posted this tonight. I should have known that it would result in immediate frustration.

David does have the right to post anywhere he wants and answer any and all questions any way he wants. He also has the right to hassle me. The only thing I can do to prevent this is to not ask anymore questions. |

I still do not see how David can rationally allow difference of opinion regarding 1,2, and 3 and yet demand 4 be taken literally.

I`m of course talking about all Christians with this view, not just David. Jesus` resurrection is the fundamental belief in Christianity and it`s right up there in mythic quality with creation,Adam & Eve and Noah. From now on I`m going to refer to ALL Christians as fundamentalists until someone can give me a good rational reason why Jesus` resurrection should be viewed any differently than Noahs Flood or a woman being created from a mans rib.
