Say I come to a fork in a road in unfamiliar territory, with both forks looking basically identical to me, and with me having no information about which fork to take. You are saying that if I choose to go left, then there was never any possibility of me choosing to go right?
No. Is there any possibility that 1 + 1 = 3? Determinism cannot be any simpler.

I am not reffering at all to Christianity or any religious argument in my refusal of this. I am sure there are secular people who study behavior who do not agree with determinism, are there not? If that is the case, then please don't try to deal with me as if I had to appeal to mysticism to argue with determinism.
I’m no philosophy expert but there are a couple of alternatives, Indeterminism and Agency. Indeterminism basically says that events happen without causes, and Agency is similar to your position I think. Of the three it’s obvious which one is most logical, and doesn’t require supernatural phenomenon to occur. I might add that Determinism comes in different forms as well.

If I can see you making your choices, past, present, and future, how does the fact that I see and know what you are doing (the phrase "will do" doesn't apply to God, who lives in all times) how does that take away your ability to choose?
Listen, this ‘all times’ doesn’t work. If God exists in my present, next week, then how will he not know what I do tomorrow? And as above -

God is omniscient and therefore knows you're going to do x, so how can what you do be anything other than x?

Quote:
To know someone is going to do something is not the same as causing them to do it.
Creating the universe that led to my existence is cause enough.

Syphor with all due respect none of these articles are at all scientific in nature. It seems more political (in calling for the abolition of jails and such) or propagandist (in saying that free will is a means for control).
They were not intended to be scientific. They were intended to better explain my position.

I've known twins in my day (my cousin is married to one) who were VERY different even though they are genetically identical and grew up in the same home. They are much more different from each other than I am from my siblings. If genes, for one, are so overpowering, how can this be the case?
Simple, each twin is acting as an influence on the other. Typically with twins the notion that they will behave alike because they look alike is what creates different behavioural patterns, want, desires etc. Put them in completely separate but identical (and I do mean identical) environments and see what happens.

This argument is a non-starter, because neither free will nor 100% determinism can be proven.
Nor can God; so why exactly are you posting on an Atheist message board again?

luvluv regurgitate more of your programmed beliefs.

After reviewing your replies, you seem to run around a question with your limited beliefs and never seem to take a question head on.

You can't explain shit with your beliefs, as they have nothing to do with known truth.

Your answer for anything and everything is "goddidit".

Your position is already set up
1) You take in god first
2) You then review the material evidence at hand
3) If it contradicts your belief(god) then 4, if not 5.
4) You won't believe the truth because you don't believe 3 is possible.
5) Goddidit yay!!!

There you have it, the religious paradox of belief

Evidence has no meaning to the belief system.
So luvluv.. argue he has no proof of his claims, but his evidence(his world of logic and reasoning) will never work in your world of belief!

He could sell you the proof, you will however never buy it!

At least not in your world of belief >
