Hm.
I think maybe some Bible thumpers would be happy if ancient texts from Mesopotamia and all knowledge of them were to disappear. A few of them have similar plot lines to later texts found in the Bible. Sargon and Moses have had a very similar start in life. Stories of a Great Flood are part of some of the ancient mesopotamian cultures. It places the Bible in a historical context, something Bible thumpers seem to dislike. I don't think the americans had the intention of seeing these artefacts looted or destroyed. They just did not care about them. Many of these items survived two world wars and the Iran-Iraq war. Bah. They should have at least protected the hospitals before the ministry of oil... Soyin |

Yep. We can "safeguard oil for the Iraqi people" but not irreplacable Mesopotamian artifacts of simply immeasurable historical value. This regime really is anti-history (Bush has pissed off historians before with his ignorant flouting of convention in opening up archives, of course this is infinitely worse). For the record, this is more than "some Iraqi musem." This was all humanity's cultural heritage. Think about all the events these objects survived since they were created, and now...
Why were oil wells, and ministries of oil so well protected while this happened and looting was brushed aside by Rumsfield et al as some sort of amusing exercise in testing out "freedom" ? Huh? WHY? Don't tell me this wasn't / isn't about oil, about hegemony, about religious fundamentalism. Don't tell me the people in charge who created havoc and neglected to protect these artifacts aren't a bunch of ignorant fools, with their cruise missiles and hardly an intelligent thought between their closed ears. |

Above all else The Addict needs its drug. The Addict is an it because it loses all sight of all that is beyond its need for the drug. The Addict is drawn more and more into the world of The Drug and in doing so loses much of its humanity and becomes more and more animal in its essential behaviour. It sheds those burdensome traits that distinguish it, seperating it from the world of beasts... Jealously, it guards its drug, oblivious or at best indifferent to the destruction it sows in its path.

I was watching a report on this on the news actually. One of the reporters was taken by a female caretaker of the museum on a tour in the museum. It really was a sad sight. At one point she showed the reporter one of the remaining statues that had parts of it chopped off and started crying. And in the end, they actually found thieves in the museum!!! There was a this short accident where they could see some people running to get out of the musum on the floor below, when they realised there were other people in, and the woman screaming something at them in Arabic while crying at the same time.
There were other highlights in the report. like visiting a hospital, and asking a nurse what she felt about being free and having democracy, and getting the answer that "Freedom and Democracy doesn't exist anywhere in the world right now after what happened in Iraq". |

FUCK!
It was all over known what happened in last war! Even the Finnish TV had a half hour program about the looting of historical reliefs last time. Deutsche Welle had also something about it. I do not know about FOX, but now I know the Administration is uncivilised morons. And the TV programs were more than a week ago. Every historican knew about it, every archeolog (fuck the spelling, I am mad) knew about it. The rest of this post would be censored, for very good reasons, so I just try to tell You: Do not assassin Bush. He is just a stupid man, a front. (Self-censored =>>>>> !"#"€#*'€%& morons&//(***))`=)/½-minded-fuck-wits ½½@£${}) And where is Blair in this????? Do something!!! |
