The framers of the Constitution were veterans of a revolution against a king whose divine right to rule the colonies was sanctioned by the official church of England. The Fourth of July, now upon us, should therefore be an occasion to celebrate the inalienable right of the individual to rebel against the dictates of state-sponsored religion.

Actually, the Power Rangers are more believable than God. At least I, personally, have seen them on TV and have seen demonstrations of their power!

I thought this was the simplest and most honest of the vaious media articles:

That you consider the Power Rangers believable at all is instructive.

Does "more believable than God" from the lips of an atheist sound like anyone thinks the Power Rangers are at all believable?

Does mentioning the Power Rangers at all give one the position of authority on the given subject?

What's your problem with this?

Moreover, when students invoke by rote the image of an almighty that we as a nation are said to live under, it trivializes consideration of religious and spiritual issues, as well as what it means to be a true patriot. Who knows what's going on in some child's mind as he chants the magical "God" word that none dare question--it could be God as a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger.
It's not a question of "authority". It shows some insight into the minds of children and the problems with legislating God. I thought you agreed with us that God should not be legislated?
