Yes, she would have to have a toy - presumably some kind of strap-on. I'm not especially enthusiastic about the idea (a finger is quite sufficient), but I would definitely consider it if they were interested. As it turns out I do know a girl who wants one, but just to wear around the house, no to use. *chuckle*

Wear around the house? Huh. That is weird. But I can see why she might want it.

I think this thread is degenerating. How about trying to get back to the topic on hand?

You start.

I think that's the main hang-up for most people. Even if they're not religious, we're often taught our gender-roles when we're young, and there is religious indoctrination on top of that, that seals the deal, so to speak.

Yes, it really bugs me right now about how parents forcefully try to indoctrinate children into 'proper boy' or 'proper girl' behavior. It is my opinion that there isn't.

My brother right now, absolutely adores cars. His favorite color is also pink. The car he wants most right now is a pink Barbie convertible, and my mother won't buy it for him. Why? Because it's 'for girls, and he wouldn't be manly'. Bugs me. Really does. Mom won't buy him anything that's pink, because she fears corrupting him or something.

Oh well. Growing up with me in the house, at least he's got some contrast.

There is hope though. Once, I was watching Sesame Street with my brother, and there, one of the episodes was showing how different games and toys can be for both people.

They even had a cute song about how boys can love dollies and girls can love trucks, and how it's all okay.

Too bad the fundies probably wouldn't let their kids watch that.

I don't know why certain groups are so hostile to gay people, but that won't stop me from posting. For some reason, certain people, such as conservative christians, feel that when people choose something different from them, that is threatening to their choice. If someone chooses to be gay, that is somehow a threat to heterosexuality. And if someone chooses to be atheist, that is an attack on christianity. They really don't get the "live and let live" thing at all, which makes them a threat to the rest of us.

Ever read Bernard Shaw's Androcles and the Lion? I definitely recommend it. He makes a good show of how people act like that. We're reading it and analyzing it in class in fact.

My mormon friend doesn't think that such things exist. She thinks that everyone is accepting, and noone feels threatened. She also thinks that everyone will help those in need.

Stupid, naive, child.

Default My admittedly unoriginal take:

People don't need to hate other people unless they feel insecure about something.

Which is easy enough to say, but it's still a bind for me to be reading Christian forum topics on homosexuality and having people say it's an "abomination". Obviously, I'm biased in this area, but it does hurt - even though I know they're only saying that because they have fiddly theology on the brain.

What makes you so sure that people "choose" to be gay?

Oops, should be more careful with my terminology, at least in this august group. Don't even want to get into THAT controversy.
