Tricia,

I really don't think you should rely on David M to help you now.(Referring to origin of thread)

In fact, I think that whatever it is you are working through will most certainly require study and introspection on your part. It is not likely to be solved in a thread on any particular site in a few short minutes.

Why challenge David? Are you baiting him?

It seems obvious that he doesn't practice what the Church of Christ preaches. Your thinking, or even mentioning stalker, should not alone deter him from helping you. Not to mention some of the hateful comments he throws here and there.(Doesn't want to know you...your soul left to satan....)

I think David is just a not-very-clever person trying to show off.

Unfortunately, he mistook Helen for a lost lamb, got Anunnaki's gender wrong, and thinks Tricia is a 45-year-old male atheist. When people become irritated with him, he sinks to snotty remarks about "atheist anger," and makes very un-Christian comments to poor Tricia (because he is too clever to be fooled by HER!)

And he wonders why he is met with ridicule and impatience?

Most humiliating of all, Helen has dealt with him as smoothly and powerfully as an expensive sports car deals with an open highway.

Heh.

Sucks to be you, Davey.

Hello Helen,

Quote:
My church believes Roman 8, that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

That would even include our own doubts.

After all, the Bible says that God adopts people as his children in love, when they become Christians. A person can no more become unsaved, according to the way my church believes, than a child can become not a child by saying to the parents "I hate you!" or "I'm never going to see you again!" The child is still their child. That can never be changed.

I think that the way my church believes is far preferable than the fear-driven belief you seem to hold, that a person can be a Christian and yet by some sin or another, condemn themselves to hell.

My church definitely believes "once saved, always saved"...
David: If Tricia is saved she need not fear her doubt. God can preserve her soul no matter what. Under these circumstances, I believe that I am under no special obligation to save her.

As to Tricia's identity, age, sex and status as a Christian: Perhaps she is describing herself honestly. I don't really know nor do I especially care.

Tricia's identity, age and sex are irrelevant to me. It would not make the least bit of difference to me is she were Cindy Crawford. If Tricia wanted me to take her request seriously, she should not have wasted any words describing herself.

I must let everyone know that I consider all anonymous (and essentially anonymous) posters on the Internet as anonymous posters. As such, I could care less if you are a male or a female. I don't care where you live, what you do and how you identify yourself.

As long as you remain anonymous it is best that you keep yourself anonymous. Otherwise I will not take your post as a serious request for assistance, guidance, teaching or advice.

I hope this clears the present situation up for you, Tricia.

Love,

David Mathews

(See page three.) IMHO, this is a very lonely and bitter man with a huge inferiority complex that he attempts to mask with an arrogant smugness. I find it to be quite sad. If you wish to continue to feed him, that is certainly your choice. Personally, I could find little of value in continuing any dialogue with him. He answers questions with questions because he has little of a positive or constructive consequence to add to most conversations. It is an old technique. One quite often used by a salesperson when they don't know, or can not accurately reveal, the answer to a potential client's insightful query.

These forums are giving him a status that he can not acquire within his own religious faith belief community. However, it pleases me to know that the folks here are more tolerant with his type than I am. For me, there are simply too many other urgent issues to attract my attention than any of his offerings.

HelenSL

Good for you!

Don't flatter yourself. I know you can't save me, I just wanted to talk to you about our similar beliefs in hope that I wouldn't lose my faith. You really do suck at these kind of things.

If Tricia wanted me to take her request seriously, she should not have wasted any words describing herself.

What does it matter?!? Even if I didn't tell you I was a female teenager, I'd still have to be a person.

I hope this clears the present situation up for you, Tricia.

As always, your posts are SO informative.

Love,

I highly doubt that.

David Mathews

naw, I'm not baiting him. I just saw that he was a new Christian to the boards, and I thought he could help me with my doubts. You know, talk. Exchange words. That didn't happen. The only thing we did exchange is insults, though I'm sorry I sunk to that level I hardly think it's anything out of the norm for this guy.

So now, Mathews is a jerk in my book.
