This is not meant to be a wisecrack, but I think the best thing to do would be to throw that letter in trash and forget about it.
You know, my mom always taught me that if I have nothing nice to say, then not to say it at all. I have extended that to mean if you dont agree with something or someone, you dont have to be upset at them...but you can decide not pay attention to it. Throwing the letter in the trash would accomplish that well. I've also, this week, as any week, gotten flyers from all sorts of stores like Walmart or restaurants like Pizza Hut. They're to inform you of things that are going on. Whether I choose to buy something or act on it is my choice. Grand Ol Designer |

But I throw so many of these things in the trash. Usually they are mass mailing form letters. This one was addressed by hand and signed by hand. Since the guy took the time to sign it, I thought I should reply.
I don't want to come off as some smart ass atheist. "How are you gonna answer that mister smarty-pants preacher man? Huh..huh?" I just want to know if they are liberal christians or fundies that would kill me if they thought they could get away with it(I have been told this). How old is the earth? Is every word of the bible true? If not, what is? Are we in the end times? I don't want to attack the guy. I just want to know what he preaches. If he responds favorably, then I will gradually turn up the heat. I'm not even going to tell him I am an atheist. Not yet any way. My wife and I are plotting to ease our way into local politics over the next few years, and I figure the best way to gain allies(votes) is through churches. |

When young and less wise, I once called a number in a "Help Wanted" ad that promised to teach one nuclear engineering, but didn't say who the prospective employer was.
Turned out it was the Navy. I got regular visits and letters from two Navy recruiters for months, despite my obvious reluctance to join up. |
