so, basically, you're arguing for opinion columnists with an opinion column?

When has Rush Limburgher ever challenged anyone in a public forum? When has he taken that ever-expanding backside of his to, say, a university-sponsored debate? When has he ever done anything other than preach to his faithful following of trailer-trash? Sean Hannity? Yes, he does debate quite frequently; too bad he does it so poorly. He is an imbecile of the first magnitude. On those rare occasions when I have been able to control my vomit-reflex long enough to sit through that drivel on the Fox Propaganda...er, News Channel, I've seen his complete dearth of debating skills and his seeming immunity to logic. His tactics are no different than Bill O'Reilly's: keep repeating the same argument - no matter how flawed - over and over again while trying to shout over your opponent. That is why conservatives dominate talk radio. Truth will always take a backseat to presentation (the more obnoxious, the better). |

Here are a couple of Limbaugh gems I love to repeat: 1. Claimed that Mt. Pinatubo released more ozone-destroying chemicals into the atmosphere than all the manmade pollutants released since the dawn of the Industrial Revolution. Even if it did, it's meaningless. Volcanic pollutants wash out of the atmosphere. CFC's don't. 2. Claimed that global warming is no problem because if the polar ice caps melted, it would be like an ice cube in water--ocean levels wouldn't rise. He's apparently unaware that Antarctica is an ice-covered land mass. Of course, this is just a tiny fraction if his misstatements. I'm sorry, I don't care what his politics are. Actually, when I admit it to myself, I'm probably more conservative than I am liberal, but I'm not going to listen to a dumbass just because he's a conservative. What could I possibly get out of it? Why won't Rush let Randi Rhodes go national? He is actually blocking her. Is he afraid?

My boss subjects me to Rush most days. I told him that my problem with Rush is not necessarily his politics; I don't agree with them, but that's fine. Rush is an ass, a pompous jerk who loves the sound of his own voice. I just don't to hear a jerk tooting his own horn.

From what I've read of her, she seems to simply be a cartoonish opposite of Shaun Hannity (who, BTW, I really detest). Crap from the left smells the same as crap from the right. |
