Red face Some Iraqis were caught planning some kind of terrorist attack somewhere!!

U.S.: Iraqi Terror-Attack Plans Thwarted

Quote:
In both cases, the operatives were arrested, terrorist material was confiscated and attacks were not carried out, spokesman Richard Boucher said.
The terrorist material would be explosives, I presume.

Quote:
He declined to identify the two countries in the alleged terror plots, but a U.S. counterterrorism official who spoke on condition of anonymity said one was Jordan.
Let me guess... the other country is Kuwait.

Quote:
No precise information on the terror-plan allegations was made available to reporters who were assembled at the department for the announcement. The basic information announced Friday has been made known to other countries, officials said.
Pardon my ignorance, but aren't we at war with Iraq? Isn't this exactly what our special ops guys do? Or is it only terrorism when someone attacks the USA?

Remember the Big Question after 9/11: "Why do they hate us [U. S.]?

We're giving them more reason.

Our foreign policy since 9/11 has been one of "revenge," and while it is justified to the extent of pursuing terrorists, something is wrong when we decide to force regime change in sovereign states.

Turkish intransigence, Syrian and Iranian involvement, this is part of the unforeseen effects of starting a war. I am not making a parallel here but a comparison: who would have thought a dispute in the Balkans would turn into the World War I (known as the 'War to end all wars' in the sense of Saddam's 1991 "Mother of all battles')?

You bet!
a year ago we had the world's sympathy and cooperation fighting terroism, now we are in more jeopardy than ever, soon even our few remaining friends won't give a rat's ass if we get hit again.
Only an idiot like bush could squander such good will.

Marduck,

George Bush apparently has no use for world sympathy, world cooperation, or diplomacy of ANY kind. Whether or not he is sincere in his reliqious belief(s), his continual mixing of God and prayer with his public utterances indicates a disturbing sense of his own righteousness and that of his "cause."

When you know you are right, you need no allies. Coalition, my ass!

We need a domestic regime change in 2004.

I made it as far as "The State Department said . . ." and quit reading.

Whether or not he is sincere in his reliqious belief(s),...

Never, have I seen ANY reason to give serious consideration to Bush being "sincere" about jesus... he would never have been selected had he not said that he loves jesus.

...his continual mixing of God and prayer with his public utterances indicates a disturbing sense of his own righteousness and that of his "cause."

Only when we try to uncover that common thread running thru everything this adminsistration has done, will we understand what they are all about.

When you know you are right, you need no allies.

Did you get that off a xian church reader board? If not, I'd expect our resident xians to pass it along to their pastor saying, "It's just perfect!"
