Question Reporting posts.

Since i've been here i've had occasion to report a post only three times. The first resulted in a swift and courteous PM from a mod, explaining the response to my complaint. Just recently, however, i've reported two separate posts in different fora and received no reply at all. As a result, i was wondering what the official position is with regard to reported posts?

Please let be be clear: i am not complaining that my reports were not acted on as i would wish (that is besides the point and not for me to decide); i am not suggesting that no action was taken (whether it was or wasn't is again not the issue); rather, i'm guessing that it wouldn't be too much to ask for a brief PM saying that the report was being considered or had been accepted/rejected with such-and-such consequences.

I appreciate that moderators are very busy people and certainly don't expect them to put my irrelevant concerns to the top of their list, but i have waited what i consider a reasonable time. I suggest that there is little point in having the function if users do not feel their feedback has at least been mulled over.

(I do not provide any links to threads because the actual posts are not relevant to this inquiry.)

My thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to consider this thread.

Hi Hugo,

Unfortunately there is no easy way to respond to the originator of a reported post. It is a system generated email that cannot be replied to. The moderator would have to look up each person's PM (it is not included in the email, nor is the profile) and then generate the PM.

It is wonderful when our moderators take the time to respond, but we felt it was a bit much to ask to make it policy.

Cool

Granted that I'm not a moderator in one of the more busy forums, but my personal policy has been to respond only if no action was taken or if the action taken wasn't public.
