Well, I disagree with this--there's always been a great deal of debate about what the attributes of the Christian god actually mean.

Phew! I know and accept that I am not one of the brightest or most learned of our happy breed here at II, so I feel no shame whatsoever in admitting that 99% of the time I have had absolutely no idea what Sophie has been going on about. Despite apparent widespread opinion to the contrary, certain creatures, entities, myths, and legends have no basis in actual reality and are completely and utterly non-existent; including, but not limited to, gods, goddesses, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, liberal media bias, compassionate conservatism, the intelligence and insight of Kathy Lee Gifford, the objectivity of Bill O�Reilley, the wit and wisdom of Rosie Odonnell, the masculinity of David Schwimmer, the acting talent of Steven Segal, the half-monkey/half-boy from the World Weekly News, the eat-all-you-want-don�t-exercise-and-still-lose-weight diet, WMD in Iraq, and the alien anal probe of George Bush.

2. Non-existence precludes a rational finding of personal responsibility, blame, or credit.


3. Therefore, R.O.B.A.W.T. � G.A.W.D. has determined that such creatures, myths, and legends should not be held personally responsible for any of the evils, tragedies, sufferings, agonies, disasters, or other ills that have ever beset mankind; including, but not limited to, war, poverty, slavery, racism, homophobia, pestilence, plagues of locusts, water hazards on golf courses, Gigli, any Kevin Costner films, Rush Limbaugh, Anna Nicole Smith, John Tesh albums, summer re-runs, Ford Pintos, 8 track tapes, and the election of George Bush.

I've always thought that those who regard themselves as "post-modern" were the epitome of pseudo-intellectual BS. "Oh, the modern world is just so yesterday...".

I prefer to call them post-cognitivists.

I'm not 100% certain that sophie would categorise herself as a "post-modernist". It's just that this is the impression I have received from most of her posts that I have read.

In all seriousness, I think she was another immature--I mean that in the sense of wisdom and not as an insult--person who thought she stumbled on a really clever idea.

When you get older, you realize a lot of clever ideas are not really that clever.

Unfortunately, she compensated with arrogance. You cannot learn anything in that state.

This is how I feel. Christianity may be a fluid, maleable religion - a fact that has probably led to its acceptance by so many in so many different cultures - but is it really Christianity? Its why I don't get the "there is something out there but its not God" type of liberal Christians (if it ain't God, you ain't a Christian - and just going to a social club every Sunday don't make it so), nor the bible thumping fundamentalist who does worship such a devil.
