For the Democrats, I think this will come back to haunt them. Are they that niave to believe that this is how they're going to win the coming election? I guess they are. I guess they have nothing better to offer. It's rather humorous!

Laci, it may come as a surprise to you, but some Americans get upset when the government sends American servicemen and -women off to die for no good reason, lies about the reasons for sending them there, and doesn't support them when they get there. Ask Lyndon Johnson. I know many of you conservatives view the armed forces as toy soldiers to be sent into danger on the whim of cowboy diplomats, but some of us care about their lives, their health, and their families.

'Nothing better to offer' than strong evidence that the president lied? Isn't that what the Republicans spent so much time on pushing during the Clinton years? I guess it's different when the republicans do it, right? Even though it's the same game, right?

Godless, Arken,
I'm sure Clinton would have hid his head in the sand after 911. And he in fact did do that for 8 years. That's exactly why we had so many terrorists living here in the USA, going to our schools, collecting unemployment, not to mention our flight schools---and then we're all so shocked that 911 occurred. Give me a break! If Clinton had shown more backbone, and not spent all our taxes on social programs and kept the military up to par, and kept our borders patrolled, and checked out our immigration policies, maybe it would have prevented 911 and all the rest of this. ![]() ![]() |

What the hell does 9/11 have to do with the Iraq war?

All of Bush's 'mistakes' are Clinton's fault?
Wow, I guess neo-cons have forgotten all about personal responsibility. It used to be part of their platform. Laci, the buck stops at the guy behind the big desk in the oval office, who is it that sits there again? |

Clinton bombed Bin Laden's camps twice while president, Laci. I believe your information is simply incorrect.

People seem to want things on black and white terms which is what the republicans have been very good at doing for the past few years I don't think we disagree on the "black and white" issue. I simply am suggesting that what black and white terms are focused on, and how they are presented strategically, does matter. There are certain issues the Republicans have not always had luck hawking and cramming down the throat of the public: the Clinton-Lewinsky Scandal, anti-choice, etc are some examples where they were not able to saunter in and have it their way. I believe that the same laws apply to the Dems is all. Both parties have blind spots, and both gravitate toward the low-ground. Suaup writes: The Democrats stood by and allowed this to happen when they thought they could politically gain from it. Yes. This is exactly what a number of Joe and Jane Lunchboxes are going to chafe at in their guts if the Dems start in hot and heavy with the preachy finger-wagging. If there's anything that nauseates the populace worse than a liar it's a hypocrite. The Dems look like the worst of sleazy politics when they get all hypocritical and put on their chaste faces. I just don't think that plays well to the crowd. They can argue that they were mislead just like the public and also talk about how they would handle foreign policy differently. But they gotta have some ideas about what they are going to do to deliver on the economy and on national security. I think they can spin things to do with GWB's mishandling of the whole Iraq mess, but they have to do it in such a way that it doesn't blowback on them. |

9/11 was committed by Muslims. Iraq is an old enemy that also happens to be a Muslim nation. Therefore, we bomb Iraq to get revenge on the Muslims. Make sense? |

Imagine what Afghanistan would look like now if we were able to deploy half the troops currently in Iraq to Afghanistan to keep the peace, support the Kabul government we installed, and hunt down Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters. |
