I must be missing the part of the original post where it was stated the man has a means of procuring more water....

If he has enough to keep slaves alive than he has enough to share with the passengers. If he doesn't have enough to keep slaves alive than he is offering them death or death.

Maybe he was planning to get the slaves and then move to Wyoming to fufill his dream to become a decorative vegatable farmer??

Yes, I forgot that Wyoming law allows the use of slave labour for the express purpose of growing very small pumpkins and multicoloured cabbages.

I do not feel it is proper to make high profits on peoples needs. Luxuries the sky is the limit. But in the aftermath of a natural diaaster do you charge 10 bucks a bottle for water? Double the price of bread? Of course not, but if you have a luxury item and demand causes a shortage you can charge whatever you can get. Anyway that is how I feel it should be.
