A problem with a one-on-one informal debate is that of time. We are all around to world on this forum. Myself, I'm eight hours earlier in the day than you are. You'll be asleep before I even get going. With more people there is more of a flow, and more ideas get thrown into the pot. And this is a PUBLIC forum after all.

But there is E-mail and private messages so if you only wanted a one-on-one it's easy enough to pick a person and contact them directly.

We've also had "informal one-on-one" debates, too. Which might be a better start for you since you are an unknown quantity and may or may not be up to "formal debate" standards (as I am not, for example).


We once had a 1:1 between two teens where everyone else agreed to comment on a separate thread to leave the two of them to have at it.

That might be better for your first venture.

Pick an infidel, any infidel, or post a question and ask who wants to engage and you select one of those people. Then request the rest of the audience leave that thread alone. I think we're all civil enough to do that.

And yeah, I'd seriously consider narrowing it down a bit from "all of my theories versus all of yours"

Why don't you start a topic here on that subject? If you are curious about those who have deconverted from Christianity, start a thread on this subject. Since you are new here, I think you will enjoy an open thread with many posters much more than randomly picking one person to debate with. Additionally, there are many reasons why people change thier minds about religion.

To get a more accurate picture, you will need to talk with many individuals. Everyone's story is unique. And you can get to know us here, and we'll get to know you.

BTW, how good are your debating skills? Start a thread and give us your best.

Ummm.. Yeah. Whatever. Personally, I would put down cash on peter against anyone the fundies can field. And never worry about losing. Not that it matters, even when desparately losing, under a landslide of data and facts, they always end up throwing up their hand, sticking their fingers in their ears, and yelling "goddidit!" to the rooftops. Circular reasoning is hardly a winning format.

And likewise many atheists tend, when confronted with the thought that highly intelligent people, including scientists, gravitate to Christ still, throw up their hands and say something profound like "Yeah whatever."

I suspect many highly rational people eventually realized it took more mindless faith to believe their incoherent theories about Christ than the Gospels themselves, as I did.

Really? I'll have to take your word for that because I've never seen it. All I've seen in people would indicate the degrees of religiousness and rational thinking are inversely related.
I can't help but notice that according to a poll taken by the AAAS in 1999 (December if I rember correctly) none of our nations top scientists were religious at all. In fact our Congressman ranted and raved over how terrible that was, on the Congressional record. Nor can I help but notice that every last mad man roaming around down town San Francisco (where I live) is carrying on (some at the top of their lungs, some with signs that they carry) about Jesusgod.
I'd like to see how you back up your claims...because I frankly don't believe them.

No need for that. The Xians provide a "take out service" like the Pizza guy or the Chinese restaurant. And you don't even have to phone them; they come to my house on their own.
But oddly enough I never wind up throwing up my hands because highly intelligent people, including scientists who have gravitated to Christ are ringing my bell. Only poor confused people and half-wits who want to tell me about invisible fathers in the sky and perfect governments after I'm dead.
