Well, there could be influences we can't clearly detect that are caused by phermones and natural synchronized behavior (think mob mentality and schools of fish). For instance, a woman's period can synchronize with the periods of other women and also be adjusted by the continuous presence of a man. Of course, we have little control over phermonically influenced behavior, but we might have some measure of control over synchronized behavior. If you yawn, I will probably yawn as well.
