Looks like St. Brigid's Cross, generally associated with Ireland and said (although not in front of priests) to predate Christianity's arrival to Ireland.
Here Also, every Irish kid is forced to learn how to make these fucking things blindfolded by the time they're five. That's what you get in a country where the Church pretty much founded all the schools, and still controls many. |

Looks like a classic 'solar cross' to me, not specifically christian. (The christians use a form of it, but the representation of the sun with cross shaped rays extending from it shows up in any number of different cultures, from native american to asian to nordic.)

Thanks for the info everyone! I suspected as much, but when I picked it out I had already had several drinks so I wasn't thinking straight. After my grandmother's funeral the whole family went through her jewelry box and a few other random possessions that hadn't been distributed yet. I snagged some nice champagne glasses but when my turn came again (we drew numbers) all that was left was jewelry. I didn't have much interest but the cross looked Celtic and was the only non-girly looking piece so I grabbed it. Maybe I'll give it to one of my cousins, but I'm not sure any of them would describe themselves as Christian.

No, that's not Brigid's cross. It is a Celtic cross which was originally a "solar wheel" which is the symbol of the god Lugh (pronounced Lew) Actually to be a Xian Celtic cross one branch would have to be longer, so it's the Druidic sun all right.
