Daggah and I have a long history of disgreeing with each other. It was more a kneejerk reaction without enough caffeine.
No, we have a long history of you being wrong and me being right.

Abstinence is like Christianity: it only works when people actually follow it. Hey Radorth! The problem is: no one actually follows it.

Too bad those same fundamentalist Christians and Catholics who so loudly scream for abstinence are also so quick to demonize masturbation, as well!

The fundamentalist Christians who scream so loudly against sex ed are basically against one thing: human pleasure. They don't care how it's obtained; if a human is experiencing pleasure, it needs to be stopped ASAP.

Not quite. The pleasure is ok so long as you get it in the approved way--making babies with your wife. It's something you have to get from them (the marriage).

Death is nature's way of telling you to be abstinent.

Of course, that doesn't help a teenager whose hormones are driving him crazy, stuck between a rock and a hard place: if he successfully resists the temptation (hah!), the pent-up sexual frustration often turns into pent-up agression...if he doesn't, and falls to the evil desire to pleasure himself, he'll inevitably feel horrible and guilty afterward...as if he's actually done something wrong!

Such convoluted bullshit and guilt-trips over something so natural....it's sad. Pathetic. And it angers me that the Religious Reich has gotten away with it for so freaking long.

Which shows how concerned about safety they really are.

It's disappointing that masturbation is not more discussed in the context of sex education, because it's the ultimate in safe sex.

As a matter of fact, at my high school (not a normal high school - SCGSSM) masturbation was taught in the last few days of the school year. Unfortunately, everyone knew it would be taught before then, and no one took it seriously. Masturbation has become a "taboo," essentially, and it shouldn't be.

I'm sure the Christians would be shocked to hear that.

I've always wondered why anyone needs a class on sex.
